IT Director


Sullivan is looking for an IT Director to manage all agency IT operations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in IT, cybersecurity, and compliance management, who enjoys both the strategic and executional aspects of IT. This will be a key hire that interfaces with staff at all levels and directs the strategic short-term and long-term IT vision at Sullivan. The IT Director will report to the CFO.  

Strategic responsibilities:

  • Developing Sullivan's IT vision and translating it into actionable goals
  • Directing the sourcing and deployment of new software and hardware
  • Formulating and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Responding to and ensuring compliance with client information security questionnaires
  • Designing resilient infrastructure to ensure availability of network services and application data
  • Identifying future challenges in IT / Cybersecurity and developing mitigation strategies
  • Proactively identifying security vulnerabilities and mitigating them with strategic solutions
  • Identifying and recommending new industry-accepted technology solutions
  • Evaluating and mitigating technology risk, including implementation of data recovery and backup strategies
  • Assessing current hardware and developing replacement hardware programs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors and consultants, including vetting of proper security controls in place for key vendors

Tactical responsibilities:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for IT support within the organisation, including diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues, with a customer service-oriented approach
  • Serving as the primary administrator for IT systems and hardware
  • Maintaining an IT ticket system; identifying common user issues and developing proactive solutions to reduce recurring issues
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining all software and hardware used within the agency
  • Maintaining an inventory of all software and hardware assets
  • Handling repairs and replacements of damaged or end-of-life hardware
  • Maintaining required security posture by deploying and maintaining antivirus, firewall, and encryption software
  • Maintaining and updating internal and staff-facing technical documentation
  • Developing change management processes to test hardware and software before full-scale deployment
  • Deploying, managing, and upgrading conference room technology


  • At least 5 years of experience in IT, with at least 2 years in a management role
  • Extensive knowledge of IT system management and cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience managing Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Office365
  • Experience managing a corporate network with a target uptime of 100%
  • Comfortable managing physical servers and performing on-premise to cloud data migrations
  • Ability to solve staff issues with urgency and a customer service-centric approach
  • Problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset
  • Experience with IT budgets, inventory management, and device procurement
  • Demonstrated ability to plan multiple IT projects simultaneously and oversee them to completion
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills
  • Ability to speak to both technical and non-technical users and translate complicated IT concepts into clear, concise communications
  • Experience developing and maintaining a repository of technical documentation
